Injections!

Watch out world!

I did "administering subcutaneous injections" today in my lab!

I am now able to draw up, mix, and give subcut injections, under the supervision of a RN, though the patient would probably thank them for that one.. :)

"Don't recap the needles though, eh Meryn!"

We seem to be mainly focussing on diabetes for some reason at the moment, but I guess pricking fingers and getting blood samples are an everyday sort of thing so good for us! We did blood glucose levels and medications in our lab a couple weeks ago, and with the subcuts today it was to do with insulin (actually water and water/cornflour mix) being injected to this foam thing in a box with a leather top secured on to it so not actual people, but still. It was rather awesome!

I'm loving Nursing and I have one more assignment due this Monday and then two more clinical days for the semester! Then my exams of course :)
